8 songs that kept me going during a tough season

Seasons come and go so long as the earth remains.

I faced a very challenging season last year but the Lord in His infinite mercies walked me through that phase and one of the means He used to do that was through worship songs.

Here are some songs that ministered to me and gave me the strength to face the season. I hope they bless you ❀

1. Total Praise – Richard Smallwood

Richard Smallwood wrote this song when he was going through a difficult season. The lyrics of the song communicated my heart towards God. I still sing it all the time, and it never ceases to bless me. Read more about this song how he composed this song here.

2. Order My Steps In Your Word GMWA Women of Worship

This song became my anthem, literally. I don’t have enough words to describe it for now, just make sure you check it out.

3. Good and loved – Travis Greene & Steffany Gretzinger

Good and loved is a gem. For real! It is a prophetic song and effectively ministered to me at the time (it still does). It sheds light on the heart of the Father. Wherever you are, whatever mess you are in, the Lord loves you. You are to die for and that’s why He sent Jesus. That is more than enough.

4. I will follow Dunsin Oyekan

Dunsin Oyekan is an anointed Minister of God, no doubt about it. I discovered that this song was released around the time he lost his wife. It was a take-home lesson for me. I thought to myself, ‘If someone who is grieving can sing such a song to God, then there had to be something I didn’t know about God;’ I desired such a relationship! It stirred up a hunger within me for more of God.

5. Absolutely Nothing – Dunsin Oyekan

Hmmmmm, this song! For some months, every single time I listened to it, I would bawl my eyes out. The funny thing is that, this song isn’t one of those songs that I think a person should cry to; However, the lyrics of songs hit different when you are going through a difficult time. It is still one of my favourites.

6. Wasted on You – Dr Paul Enenche

Dr Paul Enenche is my Pastor and Spiritual Leader. If you are familiar with his ministry, you would know that he receives quite a number of heavenly sounds and they are all edifying. This song encourages me all the time. The lyrics are powerful. In a world that is filled with hatred and mockery towards Christians, this song serves an encouragement to all believers.

7. Grace and Mercy – Dr Paul Enenche

I posted about the older brother syndrome a few days ago. Amazing song! It is God’s grace and mercy that justifies, not our works or whatever we think we have.

8. Take the lead oh Lord – Dr Paul Enenche

As the title implies, this is a song of surrender. It is a song that invites the help and mercy of God which we all need. If you don’t listen to any of the songs listed above, please listen to this one. Allow the lyrics minister to you and most importantly, surrender your agenda to God. He knows better and there is no other person that can direct you accurately along your journey in life.

Please check out these songs if you haven’t already. You will be blessed!

Feel free to leave in the comments songs that have blessed you and usher you into God’s presence. I’d really love to hear from you. I need more songs on my playlistπŸ˜†

Love, Sharimam.
