Trust God to defend you

In our daily dealings with men, misunderstandings are bound to happen. Being misunderstood is one of the most frustrating things ever. I doubt anybody enjoys being in such a position. However, it is an inevitable part of life.

One of the positions that I particularly hate being in is when I mean to communicate something and the other party misunderstands my intention and concludes on something else. Oh my! Nothing frustrates me as much as such a situation does.

Another type of situation I hate finding myself in is when people I have never met in real life or spoken to, have a false impression of me based on the information communicated by people who misunderstood me at some point, or certain people who delight in concocting lies about others.

There are several times that I have been at the centre of misunderstandings and barely given a chance to prove myself. However, such situations have taught me to trust in God to plead my case even in my absence.

As a human being, my first instinct in such a situation is to attempt to defend myself, which is very okay to do. However, have you noticed that more often than not, when we try to defend ourselves, we end up complicating the issue at hand?

I have realized that nothing is hidden under the sun and with time, all things will be made clear. Therefore, rather than destroying a relationship in the process of defending myself, I instead keep quiet and let time pass because everything will be made known to all in due time.

Secondly, I have learnt that no one can defend as God does. God as my defender, is a dimension of Him I have come to understand, and it has been so liberating. God knows every side to a story. I mean, He is the all-knowing God. He has all the facts of the case, and there is no judge like Him.

In cases like this, He is both my advocate and judge. He is my advocate because he pleads my case whenever I need Him to. God is at the same time my judge because He has the final say in my life. I have learnt to trust in Him to defend me whenever I seem to be misunderstood.

Ultimately, nobody gives a befitting reply like God. So, I hope you learn to let go and let God. There are some situations you must allow God to step in because only Him understands what you may be going through. He sees you, He understands your pain, God acknowledges your genuine heart, and He is going to show up for you if you let Him.

Let God defend you. You have no business trying to respond to every accusation that comes your way.

Jesus Christ was the most misunderstood person in the scriptures, yet he never attempted to defend himself. Remember when John the Baptist questioned if indeed Jesus was the Messiah or if he should wait for another? Can you imagine? The same John the Baptist who baptized Jesus and was there when the Holy Ghost descended as a dove to prove that indeed Jesus was the chosen one. This is real life. No matter how anointed a human being seems to be; they are still human.

Jesus kept himself busy with His father’s business. He was so focused on His assignment that he barely had the time to plead his case with anyone. If Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was misunderstood, why do you think you will not be misunderstood?

Not everyone is going to like you or understand why you are the way you are, and you need to get over it. Even your closest friends and family members will misunderstand you at some point, and it is totally fine. Just make sure you are at the centre of God’s will and allow Him to defend you.

No matter how long it takes, the truth will come to light. God is going to vindicate you.

I am sending you lots of love and hugs.

Have a restful weekend as you rest in God’s love for you.

    Sure, Sharimam.
God has been, is and will remain the only just judge we must trust!
He does not only understand how we feel when misunderstood by others, but even when we don’t understand ourselves or His will, plan and purpose for our lives……. (He understands that we are humans)
He doesn’t judge or condemn us! But, with Love, patiently guides, directs and helps us see why He chose that particular path for us….’that it is working together for our good’! What a faithful, patient, caring and loving Judge He is!
    Thank you, Sharimam for Sharing👍
    More grace, More insight
