The Gospel of Jesus Christ

I believe that the Gospel is the best news that any man will ever hear!

The Gospel is something that shouldn’t be difficult to understand; however, it has been highly misunderstood. I firmly believe that the misconception of the Gospel in the hearts of many stems from the fact that it seems too good to be true to any lay man. So rather than embracing the Gospel and everything it offers, people find alternatives that allow them to feel like they are paying the price for their sins.

“Since they did not know the righteousness of God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness.” Romans 10:3

I know a lot of people say that “If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.” However, in this case, the Gospel is true!! This sentiment does not apply to the Gospel.

So, what is the Gospel?

The Gospel simply means the good news of Jesus Christ. God loved the world so much and so, He sent His Son, Christ Jesus, to die for our sins. Jesus Christ came into the world. He died and resurrected on the third day after His death. His resurrection signifies an everlasting triumph over his enemies. His resurrection also represents a reconciliation with God. (John 3:16)

It is through Jesus Christ that you and I can approach the Father. He paid the price for our freedom through His pain, suffering and blood. For everyone who believes in Jesus Christ, there is now no condemnation for past sins, but only everlasting joy. That’s the Gospel. (Acts 16:31, 1 Peter 3:18).

Why is the Gospel Important?

The fact that Jesus Christ gave Himself as a sacrifice for humanity makes it very important. He didn’t have to do it, but He did, and so we must not trivialize this fact.

The Gospel is crucial because it reveals the redeeming plan of God for humanity. From the very start of the Bible, we can see a loving God relentlessly chasing humanity. God’s love for humankind remains a mystery to me. Nevertheless, even though we may not wholly grasp the dimension of this type of love, we must not take Gods love and redemption plan for granted.

Lastly, the Gospel is significant because of its wonder-working power. In all my years on earth, I have never seen anything capable of radically changing the trajectory of an individuals life. The Gospel completely changes the believer. I have heard so many testimonies and my life is a perfect example of what the transforming power of the Gospel can do.

My Concluding Thoughts

The Gospel must be the foundation of Christianity. Anything outside Jesus isn’t the Gospel. I understand that our traditions and popular culture may have contaminated the Gospel presented to us. A lot of us may not have had control over what was given to us before we came to Christ. However, as we mature in Christ, we must seek out the truth. It is a personal responsibility!

Secondly, our salvation through the Gospel has everything to do with Christ and nothing about us or what we can do.  God’s love, mercy and favour cannot be earned. I know that you have probably heard countless sermons and read a ton of books on how to be a good person and deserve God’s love. The problem with such teachings is that they are not based on the Gospel, and you are setting yourself up for disappointment by believing them. You can never earn salvation or God’s love by checking off a list or being a good person. The performance gospel is anti-Christ. No one is good except God. We are not reconciled to God through our works but Jesus alone.

Jesus didn’t come to make salvation possible for those who do their part. He came to accomplish it and to give it freely to all of His people.

– R Scott Clark

Thirdly, No man ever graduates from the Gospel. Don’t ever think of the Gospel as, something you do to get saved and abandon forever. No!!! We need the Gospel every single day of our lives on earth.

Finally, we must understand that the good news isn’t ‘good’ if it doesn’t take the burden of working for our salvation off our shoulders. The Gospel should make you shout for joy and give you hope every single time you remember what has been done for you. It should make you excited and want to draw close to God because of His unconditional love for you. The Gospel is life-giving; nothing gives hope like the Gospel.

The Gospel comes from a word that “signifieth good, merry, glad and joyful tidings, that maketh a man’s heart glad, and maketh him sing, dance and leap for joy. – William Tyndale

If the good news you are hearing doesn’t give you life, then you have probably misunderstood the Gospel. Every single one of us needs a saviour and we must come to that point where we fully embrace the need for one.

Jesus has paid the ultimate price for you. Are you aware of that? And if you are aware, have you accepted this fact? Or are you still trying to do it your own way? I think there is no time better than now to understand and accept the Gospel. I pray that the Holy Spirit helps you and I to accept the Gospel and walk in the truth of what has already been done for us.

This is a great post! Full of truth! Our salvation has everything to do with Christ. Indeed, it’s not by works, that any man should boast. God is so loving and merciful that He died for all. And I loved it when you talked about the wonder working power of the Gospel!!! 🙌🙌💯

For so long, my understanding was you need to be full of works, and inasmuch as that’s critical, depending on my good works as a gateway to the father never lasted long. It’s about surrendering to ABBA and trusting Him to give us the grace to love him, and constantly do His will. Thanks for this post.

I can absolutely relate! Any effort to draw close to God based on ‘works’ is never fruitful. In my opinion, it creates a wider distance.

Like you, I have been awakened to what the Gospel really means and it is so refreshing to know that it’s got nothing to do with me, but everything to with Him. I’m so thankful for his saving grace and love through Jesus Christ.

Thank you for reading and leaving a comment. God bless you Sis!❤❤❤
