5 Podcasts That Have Contributed to My Spiritual Growth

Thank God for technology!

There are several outlets to hear the word of God and edify our spirit these days. There shouldn’t be any excuse for a dormant spiritual life. Podcasts have been a source of blessing to my life.

Whether you’re a nursing mother, a person with a 9 to 5 job, a student or even a person with plenty of time on your hands, I urge you to make good use of podcasts. They can be used on the go, which is the most beautiful thing about them.

I didn’t know how much the podcasts I listen to, had impacted my life until recently. Dear reader, Nothing valuable happens by chance. If you want to grow spiritually, you ought to put in the work. Spiritual growth is possible!

Proverbs 4:18 says, “But the path of the justΒ isΒ as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect happens Is your path shining brighter as each day passes? Or is it getting dimmer?

Also, 1 Corinthians 13:11 says, “When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.” So yes, it is possible to grow spiritually and it is also possible to remain a babe in Christ. I don’t think any genuine Christian should ever find them-self in the position of the latter. It is not ideal.

It has taken years to glean from these people, and I still have a whole lot more to learn. However, I would be lying if I say there hasn’t been a significant impact and change in my life. The little drops of water make a mighty ocean indeed!

Nobody ever arrives when it concerns the things of God. We all have learning to do while we are still on this side of eternity. I sincerely hope you do all it takes to know more about God.

Here are some podcasts I have found helpful on my journey, and I hope you check them out.

  • Revive our Hearts by Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

Nancy Demoss Wolgemuth’s ministry is one that has undeniably influenced my life. Thanks to Caitlin Nunez, a Christian Blogger on Instagram, I was introduced to Nancy’s ministry. And ever since 2017, the first time I listened to her speak, I have been hooked. Her simple but powerful way of sharing the word is my favourite thing about her teachings. Asides from what she does, you can tell she possesses a sweet spirit; a quiet and gentle spirit which is very crucial as a godly woman. She exemplifies Biblical Womanhood and the Revive our Hearts podcast is a means through which she does that. Revive our hearts features a number of guests weekly and they all happen to be sound teachers of the word.

  • Set Apart Girl by Leslie Ludy

Are you a Christian lady who is interested in hearing the truth? When I say the truth, I mean the raw but much needed truth regarding our Christian race? If yes, then Leslie Ludy’s podcast is a go-to. Leslie presents the undiluted word of God whenever she speaks, and I love that about her. I must say when I started listening to her, I had my contemplations and sort of ignored some of her counsel, however, as I have matured in the faith, I have realized that I desperately need honest counsel if I intend to finish my race strong; so I have embraced her teachings and counsel, and I hope you do too!

  • Ask Pastor John

Almost everybody I know in the faith listens to John Piper. John Piper’s teachings and writings have contributed to my knowledge of God. I am deeply grateful for his ministry. Ask Pastor John is a segment of his ministry where he answers questions about situations that a lot of Christians face. I have found this podcast very helpful. It is one of the places I check first whenever I am looking for answers. Of course, God is the first person we must run to when looking for answers. Nevertheless, there are times we will need to seek out answers because God has already deposited wisdom on this earth through men.

  • Teri Savelle Foy Podcast

I adore Teri Savelle Foy. She is a fantastic woman of faith. I love her practical approach to the word of God. Teri’s podcast was the motivation I needed to create my first ever vision board in 2018. Teri’s enthusiasm and optimism towards life are contagious. I remember when I listened to her a few years ago, and she spoke about how God put an unusual passion in her for the French language and years down the line, he opened a strange door of opportunity in France for her. This testimony encourages me to date to stir up and not stifle my giftings or passions. She is someone that I encourage every visionary to listen to.

  • In Touch Ministries by Charles Stanley

From the very first day I heard Dr Charles Stanley speak, I took a liking to him. Whenever I listen to him, my mind is filled with images of God as a loving father. I really can’t explain it. His teachings are simple but so powerful! His love for God is not easy to miss. My perspectives on a lot of things have changed just by listening to his expository on the word. I remember once when he urged his believing listeners to stop addressing themselves as “sinners”. He emphasized that we are no longer sinners, but now saints. Our starting point must be from our place as saints and not sinners. His revelation falls in line with the scripture that says “we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus”. Discovering this was a turning point in my life, and I am forever grateful for this particular teaching by Dr Charles Stanley.

Please make sure check out these wonderful men and women of God listed above. I also urge you to remain consistent with any spiritual activity you decide to take up; including listening to podcasts. They are very beneficial and can change your life.

May God grant you the grace to stay consistent.

Lastly, Nothing ever works unless you do. Spiritual growth is a process and requires intentionality. I pray that your heart gets filled up with a hunger and passion for the things of God. I pray that you spend the rest of your days, seeking that which matters most in the Name of Jesus!

Thank you for reading. Feel free to list out your favourite faith-based podcasts. I’d love to check them out. Have the most fantastic day, Jesus loves you!
